This was my first year to teach 9th grade English after teaching Spanish for 16 years. It has definitely been a challenge finding novels that my students will actually want to read. We are a small school district. One of the greatest benefits to that is that I can communicate with the 8th grade English teacher and find out what students have enjoyed most in her class.
My future students have already voiced their interest in reading the book Night!
I want to make sure that I am able to meet the interest of my students for next year. I chose this novel because of the amazing feedback the students have given after reading about the author this past year. I hope I am able to supply these novels, and will be able to start the year off right away with something I know my future students are already excited to read!
