My Students
Desperately seeking technology for our "Technology" Magnet Middle School. Even though we are supposed to be a school that leads in technology, our California school system is unable to provide any new electronics for our classroom.
I teach 6th grade Math and Science.
My students are fun, outgoing and eager to learn. Unfortunately, they are surrounded by outdated textbooks and technology. In my classes I have 160 students that range from English As A Second Language to Highly Gifted. Shiny new technology inspires them and opens their minds to learning like no other tool in my repertoire.
My Project
My class would dearly love and appreciate the Samsung Galaxy tablet bundles. My students would be able to use these tablets in so many ways. I have already convinced our school to install 2 routers in my room so that all my students can have wireless Internet access in the classroom. Now all we need is the tablets to access it! Our school year just started but we have already implemented the use of many apps and programs. We use a program called Accelerated Math that is scientifically based and data driven to teach our students math skills. This program allows all students to work at their own pace. I have been relying on students to bring in their own devices but most of them do not have access to this. Earth Science can also be fascinating, but very abstract. There are many apps that would help my students understand the concepts and engage them in learning.
I am desperate for these Galaxy Tablets because they will further the learning for my 6th grade students.
Not only will they impact the learning of the current 160 students, but will also be passed on next year. This will reach hundreds of students in the years to come. Technology is the future, please help my students prepare for their future!
