Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Dear Donor: I am writing to request more books! We do not have a library/librarian on our campus this year. My classroom thoroughly enjoyed every single book we received in our Donor Choose shipment! My students' learning was enhanced with the many lesson plans I was able to plan with all of the wonderful books. We would love to have more!!!! Read-a-louds are highly effective for learning! I like to do a read-a-loud for every concept taught. In the past I have checked out library books to go with every unit taught. (Reading, Science, Math, and Social Studies!) It is important to have the students make a literary connection. I also need books for my students to read on their own for reading fluency! Their textbooks are too advanced for them. I did inherit some kindergarten books, but those are too easy! Lida Hooe Elementary is a low-income school in an inner-city section of Dallas! Our school is 98% Hispanic. My students don't have books to read at home. We are a desperate little classroom. I have twenty students. Anything that you can do would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
