Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
What I love most about my students is their resilience, brilliance, and drive to learn. They show up every day with questions, ideas, and the belief that education can take them anywhere. Many of my students come from historically underserved communities, and our classroom reflects a wide range of racial, cultural, and economic backgrounds. What unites them is a deep desire to succeed—and they deserve a classroom environment that honors their potential.
Right now, our classroom furniture tells a different story.
Our desks are old, mismatched, and in many cases, broken. These physical conditions send an unfair message: that some students get better learning environments than others. A full class set of new desks will help reverse that message. It will send a powerful signal that every student deserves dignity, comfort, and equality in their learning space—no matter their background.
Providing my students with high-quality desks is about more than furniture—it’s about equity and justice. When students of color walk into a classroom with the same clean, functional resources as any other school, they see that their education matters just as much. It reinforces that they belong in spaces of excellence and deserve the same opportunities to thrive.
