Think about where you spend your time every day and what you need to make it through the hours you spend there. Comfort and functionality probably come to mind. My students need new desks for these reasons. Currently, students who are left-handed are forced to sit in desks that are designed for right-handed learners. My students sit in pairs and the person on the right must climb over the bar that every desk has.
Sled-style desks will allow students to regroup for different tasks and help students of all sizes and writing styles sit comfortably.
Collaborative groups, large group discussions, debates, or independent work can all be achieved when the classroom can be rearranged.
