Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The items I am requesting are to provide my students with science materials and manipulatives to promote and engage them in STEM. I plan to implement desk pets as a classroom incentive but also use them as an anchor to science to showcase animals and their habitats. Students will have the opportunity to care for and nurture their desk pets throughout the school year. They will earn points where they can create a habitat for their desk pet and provide their desk pet with essentials with points they have earned throughout the school day.

Making sure students are engaged in their learning using valuable tools and materials is an essential component in education.

I believe learning should be fun, and providing my students with these items will give them every opportunity to love coming to school.

The miniature food, books, and erasers will be used as materials that students can purchase for their desk pets. The mini drawers will be used to store the dest pet materials. The clear plastic mini cupcake containers will be used as the desk pet's habitat and the velcro dots will allow students to keep their desk pet securely on their desk. The laptop stand will allow me to showcase videos on my laptop when working in small groups. The alarm clock will be used to set alarms to transition between science activities. The 3-outlet extender will be used for our classroom fish tank that students will also help to care for throughout the school year which will provide many stem opportunities for learning.
