Help me give my students a class set of The Book of Honu. HS special education marine science class in need of resource materials to carry out Project Based Learning activity.

My Project

The Honu Books will become a part of the HS Special Education Marine Science Class library. Students will work in teams to generate an environmental plan to aid in the recovery of Hawaiian sea turtle populations.

The goal of the project is to use relevant, contemporary reading resources to capture and maintain the interests of the students.

Students struggle with reading. However, this book is at a reading level for most of the students.

The students are special because they live in predominate Hawaiian communities in Waimanalo and Kailua Hawaii. It is important to explore marine ecology using both science and cultural adaptations to further their understanding of the marine ecosystem.
