This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The beginning and end of the school year, when students don't have access to their laptops, is a challenging time for Computer Science. A classroom set of blocks will allow us to start learning the design cycle and build familiarity working together even when our digital resources aren't available. As they build and experiment, students will learn to think critically, identify patterns, and debug their designs, all essential skills in computer science.
Physical building provides a great access point to the content particularly for students who may face language barriers or lack access to computers at home.
These tactile, language-neutral building materials provide a unique pathway to engage students who don't speak English fluently, as programming concepts can be understood visually and kinesthetically. KEVA blocks offer an inclusive and hands-on learning experience that transcends language and levels the playing field, enabling all students, regardless of their English proficiency, to grasp fundamental computer science principles.
