Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I work in an inner-city school and the majority of my students are Hispanic; with low SE status. My school is a Title I campus. My Gifted and Talented (G/T) students (grades KN-05) love to learn and are always coming up with new unique ideas. In fact, our guiding principles are to think outside the box, to love to learn and to create something new.
In the past students have created everything from their own unique holiday, the ideal city, invented their own original games, created a personal quilt, constructed robots, and so much more.
My Project
My students do a variety of projects throughout the year. Being able to design projects beyond what they are currently able to do, and cut a variety of materials - safely, only enhances the authentic learning for students.
Being able to utilize a machine like the Cricut will allow students to imagine and create beyond markers and paper.
It will provide a greater sense of ownership in their completed projects as they will be able to make more a more professional level looking completed project. A tool such as this allows them to see what can be accomplished using technology to assist.
