My Project
I am excited to continue to grow our STEM program focused on desert ecosystems. This "Desert Ecology" course has provided students with a unique opportunity to explore and study the intricate relationships within our local desert environment, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation for the natural world.
The Desert Ecology course is an immersive and interdisciplinary learning experience.
Since our January 6th return date, students have constructed and placed our new storage shed, built and installed our new supply and storage racks, pressure washed and repurposed the old walkway stones, installed our solar walkway lights, hung our hummingbird feeders, and began preparing our various planting beds for planting in mid to late February. One of our plant beds will contain various types of produce for use in our after school culinary program. The remaining beds will be planted with the 190,000 wildflower seeds and other desert plant seeds we purchased or had donated.
The materials in this project will further enhance the beauty of our space and help continue or efforts at cultivating various flora that enhances the learning of our local ecosystem.
