Have you ever witnessed someone getting bullied and didn't know how to stop it? Have you ever been that person getting bullied? The issue of bullying presents itself to students in my school every day, however they are not equipped with the proper tools to diffuse the situation.
I teach at an urban high poverty school in central New York State.
Unfortunately, bullying exists within the walls of our school. Our students, who are really good kids, can get caught up in bad situations. In the past few months we've had multiple incidents of negative peer pressure resulting in bullying. Our goal is to create a wave of positive peer pressure resulting in change.
My students have designed a project to combat bullying in our school. They want to design and then create posters to be displayed throughout our school.
My Project
My students' have developed a special poster project.
They will create laminated anti-bullying posters to inform their fellow students of the effects of bullying. We will display these posters throughout our school.
Knowledge is power and I believe the anti-bullying visuals will remind everyone of the inherent evils of treating others with cruelty. If this project helps just one student to be equipped with the proper tools to diffuse a bullying situation then it will be considered a great success.
I know the students' involvement in developing and implementing this project will help ensure it's success.
