My students are supremely brilliant!
I wish you could see my students in action, analyzing and waxing philosophical, I really do!
But why am I asking for these books?
Simply put: my AP English students hear me reference people like Freud, Jung and Friedrich Nietzsche in every class and they are starting to get intrigued.
They want to read the full works of these deep thinkers.
Essentially, students will be checking these books out from my classroom library, reading them independently, then checking in with me, informally and intermittently, for a book club sort of talk.
Again, my students are beyond brilliant!
These are kids in an urban public school and they are reading Dostoevsky, Richard Yates, James Baldwin and Freud.
I want to give them some new philosophers to get their big brains cooking!
