Deep Thinkers, We Are?

My students need to have novels that challenge them during their independent reading and science manipulatives that have students inquiring phenomenons, engaging in scientific dialogue, and critical thinking skills to build and solve problems.

FULLY FUNDED! Ms. P.'s classroom raised $598

My Students

My 4th grade class are students who love to be challenged. They yearn to learn about the world around them. I am a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. I am looking to further support their love of reading.

My students are competitive, full of motivation and are book worms.

My class are full of students who completely delve into the world that the book illustrates for them. These 4th grade students are reading at very high levels and the books that have been passed down to me do not meet their needs and therefore will not challenge them to the extent that they need.

My Project

Everyday students are provided an opportunity to silently read, my incoming 4th grade students are avid readers and need books that will be at their level and higher, these books will be added to our leveled library so students will have access to these books daily to exchange or to peek at. Another subject on the rise is science, we are really pushing science and having students produce more questions and being more hands on rather than front loading. I want to give my students the chance to create a STEM station so that my student can explore phenomenons with peers.

As said before, the goal is to keep pushing my class to achieve high goals in literacy and to be scientists in the making.

Both go hand in hand, when a student is a fluent reader and is able to comprehend high level texts, they are able to open their mind to be deep thinkers and explorers.
