Communication for Security

My students need 20 Walkie Talkies to communicate as they host in Oklahoma State Student Council Convention.

My Students

Do you remember being involved in extracurricular activities such as StuCo, DECA, FFA and etc? Did you attend the state convention? My StuCo of 50 students will be hosting a state convention in the next 15 months. Getting 20 Walkie Talkies will help with communication with my Security Committee.

I have the best students in the world.

2 years ago, my student council was selected to host a state convention. With a task this large, I have 50 eager student committee heads planning every aspect of the convention. The convention is student lead, student ran. They have already put in hours of planning to show the student participants leadership skills to take back to their home schools. Our school is not located in the richest area. 75% of our school is on free and reduced lunch. So, you are probably wondering why we would take on a task this big. The skills these kids can learn are priceless. They will be planning and organizing the convention for 1500 Student Leaders. I think that is pretty awesome. I have the best students on the planet and they deserve the best.

My Project

Two years ago, our student council was selected to host the a state convention. This was a first for our school and district. When a school is selected, they are responsible for raising all the additional funds which adds up to $75, 000. As time has past we are learning it is harder that we thought to raise this money. Since the school is not a non-profit 501c3, companies are not so willing to help. Getting these walkie talkies will help Security and Building & Grounds committees for the convention communicate and take charge with their duties. The skills they will learn will last a life time. They have to be organize, observant, and stern with their decisions. Having the Walkie Talkies will do this for them.

Raising $75,000 and being a public school teacher seems to be an impossible task.

We are hoping to raise these funds with in-kind donations. Receiving the walkie talkies will help us get closer to our goal. Doesn't seem like much, but the walkie talkies is a necessity to any major convention. The boys on the Security and Building & Grounds Committees will have one less stress by receiving them.
