This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Early readers need quality texts they are able to decode in order to become capable, independent readers. These texts support early literacy with predictable vowel patterns readers need to learn in order to become readers. This is particularly important for English language Learners.

These decodable texts provide multiple opportunities for students to practice rules-based literacy by learning how to decode words with short and long vowel spelling patterns.

My second-grade English Language Learners need as many opportunities as possible to access and read texts that are decodable based on their skill levels. These texts will support their literacy skills as they begin to acquire English.
