Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
These books will provide meaningful context for students to practice and apply the letter-sound relationships they are learning in phonics lessons. This immediate application helps solidify their understanding and shows them the practical value of their phonics knowledge.
Decodable readers encourage students to rely on their decoding skills rather than guessing based on pictures or context.
This crucial habit of analyzing letters and sounds from left to right is fundamental for becoming a successful reader.
This early success builds confidence in their reading abilities, making them more willing to engage with books. As they experience the "I can read!" moment repeatedly, their motivation to read more grows.
