This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Teaching a child to read can be life-changing! I am a mild/moderate Education Specialist for grades TK-1. I have the privilege of working with students from my caseload in small groups, pulling them out of their general education classrooms. My goal is for each student in my groups to feel confident and capable while reading, and these books will play a key role in making that happen. I am Orton-Gillingham trained and have been utilizing this evidence-based approach to teach reading for the past seven years. Rooted in the Science of Reading, this methodology has proven to be effective for all learners.
These new books are going to make a significant impact on my students' reading progress.
The variety of skills covered in these books ensures there is something for every student, helping them grow at their own pace. Currently, I use printable Orton-Gillingham decodable books, which I prepare each week for my reading groups. To maximize my time for planning targeted small group instruction, I am requesting Hello Phonics Decodable Books. We currently use the orange set and would love to add more to our classroom. These resources enable me to provide my students with engaging decodable stories, ultimately helping them become stronger, more confident readers. Your support in providing my students with more decodable books would be greatly appreciated.
