My Students
My school has become a pilot in our urban district. Distance learning was something that none of us prepared for. Now we need to meet all students where they are at. Keeping things equitable is a goal for all students in our district.
Many of our students come from low income homes, they often lack the basic supplies to be able to complete daily work.
School is their safe place. We provide food, clothing, and love. Every student in my class is an exceptional person who can accomplish anything they set their minds too. I love to watch how they grow throughout the year.
My Project
We have embraced the science of reading. However, I need to have decodable readers in the classroom, so that all students can read at their level.
Picking up a book and being able to actually decode it gives a child a sense of accomplishment.
We are working hard on phonemic awareness and meeting children where they are at in phonics instruction. I need books with controlled phonics patterns at all levels.
Students need to be able to practice what we are working on daily. These books will give them the ability to do so while also experiencing success.
