My Project

My middle school reading intervention students would benefit greatly if they could have access to decodable readers that follow the same phonics skills that they are working on. Many decodables are for younger students and don't help to motivate older students. These books, follow the Science of Reading methodology, while providing older students with interesting stories. This aligns with learning acceleration and academic renewal as these students are already reading below grade level and are reluctant readers. This also aligns with the social and emotional growth as it will make them feel great to read books with minimal difficulty. Success with these books will certainly boost their feelings of accomplishment, thereby helping them want to read more.
