Our class is filled with students who work hard even in difficult circumstances. We currently do not have a lot of books that new readers can read independently. Decodable books will help students practice the phonics patterns they are learning.
When students see new phonics patterns in their books, it reinforces what they are learning in class.
Decodable books make them better readers and better spellers. These books will also build their confidence and make them start to see themselves as readers.
There is nothing better than seeing a child's face light up when they realize they can read. That's what decodable books do.
