Help me give my students who are deaf and hard-of-hearing access to hands-on and visually interesting materials, as well as materials that are in their own language. Materials related directly to DHH students are so limited.

My Project

Because of the limited ability, or inability to access one of their major senses, deaf and hard of hearing students require materials that are hands on, visually interesting, and have English words readily accessible so they are able to acquire the same vocabulary that hearing students do. In addition to that, this population of students also have a hard time making personal connections to characters in stories that are read in the classroom. Most characters in stories are hearing, and n almost none of them have hearing aids or cochlear implants. When students are able to make these connections, it makes learning more fun and in turn, more motivating.
