Help me give my students access yo things not available with hearing loss. a lot of my students are working on learning American Sign Language as a second language. many of them also struggle with math/english
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students have not had access to every day information in the school setting due to hearing loss. Because of covid 19, an even wider gap was made for these students. They now struggle greatly with math, reading, and self advocacy the most. Many of my students are working on learning American Sign Language as a second language, so I chose all ASL products to help strengthen and grow their knowledge. This will eventually allow them access to interpreters, to help them within the classroom setting. Many of them also struggle with math and English because of these gaps in the classroom, and benefit from the use of manipulative and materials to help further break down content. Finally, the books I have chosen all feature Deaf characters in some capacity, which my students can connect to personally, and help them realize their potential within their hearing loss.
