My Project
Folks may remember rows of identical individual desks facing the front of the room where students are to be quiet while the teacher lectured. Our classrooms are still structured to mimic this antiquated practice but I want my classroom to break out of this mold by starting with round tables!
I have been striving to de-institutionalize my classroom so that it becomes a warm inviting space to learn.
21st-century skills require that our students collaborate and communicate with one another to solve problems together. Individual desks do not encourage such practices, but round tables will.
In the past, I have received some generous donations of gently used furniture and spent some of my own money to purchase pieces. For this upcoming school year, my goal is to create a fully collaborative space. Please help me reach my goal!
