My students need preserved frogs to dissect to learn about the anatomy of vertebrates. We also need latex-free gloves to safely dissect the specimens.

My Students
Students hear it and they forget, they see it and remember, and they do it and understand. This quote from Confucius embodies the experience students receive from doing science experiments. My students love to participate in dissections and they always learn much more than just reading a book.
Many of my students come from low-income households.
However, they are very inquisitive and interested in learning about science. They tremendously enjoy doing laboratory experiments. My students always comment that my class is the "fun" class. My class is fun and exciting, but the students are also learning valuable science lessons in the classroom and laboratory. The mission of our school and my classroom is for each student to achieve their personal best when it comes to learning.
My Project
Last year through the generosity of donors from Donors Choose, my students were able to dissect cow eyes and pig hearts. This year I have moved to 7th grade science and we are going to dissect frogs to better learn about vertebrates. My students will actually get to cut into a real frog and feel the parts of a real frog instead of just learning about it in a book.
Donations to this project will make a profound difference in the educational experience of my students.
Students learn much better by participating in hands-on experiments than just reading about it in a book or watching a video about it. You never know what could come from a project like this. This might inspire some of my students to become doctors or veterinarians in the future.
