This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are eager and excited to try new things. They quickly learn that in their gifted pullout class, I will not go through directions step by step with them. I will depend on them to figure things out. My confidence in their ability to solve problems allows them to develop their own self-confidence.

My students crave hands-on learning opportunities.

As students in a Title I school, they often do not have as many learning life experiences as other students. When given access to new situations, they love to try different things until they get the desired result.

My Project

My gifted students love any type of problem solving activities. I would like to use the Dash robots with my younger students in order to help them to practice math reasoning AND coding. The students will look at possible paths using numbers to get to a certain number, and then they will code their robot to follow that path.

Math problem solving and coding all in one lesson!

Using the dash robot will be an exciting and engaging way to allow this to happen. My students do not often get the opportunities to engage with technology, and especially coding and robotics, so I think this will be a very exciting way for them to learn both math problem solving skills and coding.
