Ms. Adams from Mobile AL is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need the Dash & Dot Activity Kit so that we can practice creative problem solving and computational thinking using computer coding and robotics.

Excited voices buzz our hallways each day. Students enter our building eager to learn and ready to participate in the day's rigorous activities.
Our school is nestled in our community.
Our students live in the surrounding neighborhoods. Students arrive to school energetic and ready to learn each day. Our community is very supportive of our school. Though many view our students as those who are "in need," our students are always thinking of ways that they can help others. They hope to one day give back to their community by being employed by the viable industries located within the community. Our students are future engineers, programmers, medical professionals, entrepreneurs, dancers, writers, scientists, community leaders, and much more! When conversing with members of our Student Council, I'm constantly reminded of ways that my students plan to "make the world a better place." This starts by collaborating with other students to create projects and share those projects with others. Students at my school are always excited about being introduced to new ideas that challenge their ways of thinking.
Possessing 21st century skills will help my students to be successful learners and adults. These skills include problem solving, creativity, analytical thinking, collaboration, and communicating effectively. To help us master these skills, we'd like to use the Dash & Dot Robots by Wonder Workshops. These robots lend themselves to hands-on learning for students in grades K-5. Participating in robotics activities will help my students practice and master these 21st century skills. Students will use Dash & Dot to analyze problems and design algorithms to program robot actions and reactions using Blockly, a visual drag-and-drop coding tool.
Students will explore concepts like the number line, geometry, angles, distance, time, and variables.
Students will even get to participate in creative writing and the arts by exploring storytelling, drawing, and even music. My students are excited about the possibility of using robots in our classroom and even getting to compete in the Dash & Dot Robotics competition!
