My Students

My Students

I teach an inquisitive group of third graders in an inner-city public school in Arizona.

With over 90% of our students on the Free and Reduced Lunch Program one might think that our students are poor, but they would be far from the truth in doing so! What our children lack in money, they make up for in their curiosity and desire to learn! My room is the home for the gifted students at my grade level, and they have an insatiable appetite for information.

I have been told that as a teacher I help to create the future, but the truth is that the creative minds in my care hold the keys to greatness within them and they can change the world regardless of their socioeconomic status!

Learning to code is one pathway to that goal. When children learn to code they not only develop perseverance, critical thinking, and confidence ... they also learn that failure is just the gateway to learning and new solutions. These skills can help them to achieve great things today and throughout their lifetimes. They deserve no less than this!

My Project

With the Dash and Dot robots and accessories, my students would learn the skill of coding. In conjunction with iPads, students will use apps (Blockly, Go, Dash, and Xylo) to command the robots to dance, play music, write, and draw. While being completely engaged, my students will learn to code, collaborate, and problem solve! These robots will open up doors to skills and technologies that my students would otherwise not have access to. They will be able to explore the quickly growing field of coding in the field of STEM and that will inspire them to pursue future careers in this rapidly changing field.

Donations to this project will help these future leaders to see just how far they can go and how their creativity can change this world for the better!

As an educator, I am passionate about technology and it in my classroom to enhance my instruction, so I want to be able to share this gift with my students and allow them to see what the power of technology can do! I believe that my students should never feel like they can't achieve their dreams, and your generosity can help me to show them that the biggest of dreams can come through.
