My students are 21st century students. They are learning to become problem solvers and thinkers.
Our middle school is moving towards classrooms that are student centered instead of teacher centered, meaning students guide the learning, not teachers.
They just become facilitators.
Our school is located in an inner city, and we have a diverse population that we are trying to reach. We have students who come from wealthy homes to students that come from very low income. It is quite a challenge to reach them all.
My Project
My students come to me lacking in math skills. My goal is to prepare them for the real world and to build their self esteem. Most of them come from families that say they can't do math. I work very hard to use math in the real world.
The requested Wonder Workshop Dash coding robot and the Wonder Workshop Dash Challenge Cards and Launcher will help my students increase their coding skills.
It will be used in several real life projects throughout the year.
One of my favorite is where we recreate the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade. The Dash Robot will be used to move their Balloon Float down the path of a New York City street with 3D buildings they created.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
