Help me give my students beginning coding activities. Last year I was able to get Sphero balls which were great at the end of the year, but Dot, Dash and the mouse would be great for the beginning!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Working in a low income/high poverty neighborhood, my students face many challenges both in and out of the classroom. I want to keep life simple for them. Learning through play is vital at this age and is a powerful way to learn.
Many of my students speak other languages and are learning English.
However, this does not stop them from finding the commonality between them. They are thinkers, dreamers, and believers who can do whatever they set their mind to do! They are excited to come to school and want to learn about the world around them. They work together and are compassionate!
I want my students to see the opportunities that await them and learn how to navigate through that world. I want them to develop skills that will benefit them far into the future.
My Project
Coding is a necessary skill for students. In order for my students to have successful futures, I need to give them the opportunities now to develop those skills. I believe that through play, my students can learn even the hardest skills.
Dot and Dash and the mouse are perfect coding activities for the beginning of the year.
They don't require technology and are simple enough to figure out in small groups on their own once they get a few lessons on how they work. These will help students explore the world of STEM and love what they can create when they collaborate together.
