This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Third graders love to learn all about the world around them. Using robots in the classroom is a 21st-century skill that necessitates cooperative work.
Dash and Dot are a great tool for teaching students about coding.
Our students are utilizing more technology in the classroom. They love when we get new things. Being a Title I school, almost all of my students are second language learners. Their drive to learn and achieve is amazing.
My students are the face of the United States of America. Some were born in this country to English speaking parents. Some were born in the United States to Spanish or Vietnamese speaking parents. Others were born in another country and immigrated to the United States. One thing that all of my students have in common is their zest for learning. They are so wonderful in that they don't see the differences between each other.
My Project
This Dash and Dot robot will give our classroom four! We have three already and an extra iPad to use with this new one.
Another Dash and Dot will make the groups smaller and cooperation will abound.
My students are excited about using technology in the classroom. While this might look like fun, these great students are using critical thinking and collaboration to control these wonderful robots. Last years' class absolutely loved using these. They enjoyed the freedom to personalize the noises and movement of Dash and Dot. It is rewarding to watch them problem solve and work collaboratively and know that there is no way to measure the learning that is happening.
