My students need support for a field trip to the Dark Universe show at the Hayden Planetarium.
FULLY FUNDED! Mr. Gilson's classroom raised $558

My Students
Reading about the universe and all its mysteries can only open your mind so far. Sitting in the Hayden Planetarium when the lights go down and the stars come up, well that can blow your mind wide open!
Our scholars love making connections.
Our culture here at G. encourages it, blending curriculum and finding ways to show the girls how what they learn in the classroom has direct connections to what is happening outside our walls. From using math to build birdhouses and a dollhouse (a previously funded project - thank you!) to field trips that bring social studies and science to life, we like to keep it real.
My Project
We are eager top visit the Hayden Planetarium and their showing of Dark Universe. We just completed a unit on scientific notation, exploring astronomical distances, literally, as well as very small measures. Plus, these 8th graders are beginning a unit on Astronomy. So the timing is perfect!
By seeing the Dark Universe show, scholars will gain a better sense of their place, and ultimately purpose, in the world.
Although we are tiny specs in the grand scheme of things, we can still each make a huge difference, in our own lives and in the lives of others. Perspective is the key, and this trip will help bring that to our scholars.
