Did you have everything you needed in school in order to reach your potential? My students have the drive and determination to learn, but unfortunately are lacking updated materials. New York City has cut budgets and money to children and classrooms for too long and my students are suffering.
This year, we are going to be a class community of 32 or more students!
Our school is a public school in a culturally diverse community that educates children from all over the world! These children are eager to learn and willing to work diligently. We have heart, desire, love, intelligence, compassion and understanding in our classroom. All we are missing is supplies, funding and updated materials. My students will thrive with new materials!
My Project
These resources that I am requesting for my students will help them in numerous ways. New York has adopted the Common Core Standards. These standards require a whole new curriculum, books, teaching materials, math and literacy resources and much, much more. I've requested various Grade 4 Teaching Kits. These kits include "Fractions Common Core Activity Set", "Informational Test Common Core Kit" and "How Do You Solve It? Activity Cards." I have also asked for some Common Core Leveled texts for reading. The challenge we face, is where to obtain and fund all these necessities. The materials I have are outdated, old and worn. My students deserve to open a brand new book and discover a whole, new world. They deserve to discover their inner mathematician through hands-on learning. My students will enter this year with new hope, inspiration and determination.
The Common Core Standards state that every child will be college and career ready.
