These New York City public school students have been through so much these past 3 months. They have lost seeing their teachers, support staff, administrators & school building that would normally provide a sense of comfort. Nearly all of my students come from low-income households.
By providing each student with a copy of the book, we are hoping to use it as a daily affirmation and mantra to support our children each day, instilling in them this message- “There are no limits to who you can become!” We are hoping to encourage them to be inspired while coloring into this inspirational coloring book and journal.
They will have an opportunity to not only find pictures but there are also quotes that will motivate them while leaving space for their own self-expression. We want to give them space to unleash their dreams. Please help support our children in creating what they see through their own creativity
My Project
Dare to be the best you can be! That is the message we want to send our children off with as they make their way through life. We want to encourage our children to believe in themselves and their potential for greatness! One of the ways we have supported our children is by giving them opportunities to have many varied experiences. One very impactful experience was when the author of Dear You, I Dare You, Nasheema S Dixon came to visit our First and Second graders during remote learning. She read this meaningful, one length letter poem that encourage and empower young children to stay true to who they are and dare to be the best they can be. The children were mesmerized by the words as read by the poet herself. This was an experience they will treasure and one we want to sustain over time.
