This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Russell Mark said "Competing at the highest level is the greatest test of ones character." My students are constantly pushing themselves to compete at the highest level, and they work so hard, yet our old tattered flags are bringing down their scores at every competition.
Every year the Flagline competes with the marching band at numerous competitions.
My students work hard to be able to perform at a high level, but their old equipment is keeping them down. It is hard to put on a top quality show when the flags they are using have become tattered and torn.
These flags are used for all home games, assemblies, everyday for practices and for competitions. With all of the times they are used during a season, these flags become very worn and we must continually mend these flags the best that we can so that we can use them again and again.
In a typical marching band show the Flagline will use 3 to 4 different flags, we currently do not have a set of flags that has not been mended numerous times. I just want my students to be able to put on the performance of their young lives and get the scores that they deserve; without new flags this will not be possible.
My Project
A typical marching band show has 3 to 4 different sets of flags. We are requesting 2 sets of brand new flags for our next marching band season so that we can put on a top quality show. The addition of these flags will give my students a better chance at going to state.
In this community my students often come from hard backgrounds.
They are so used to having to do it on their own, this donation will help them in two major ways. It will help them get to state and in turn believe in themselves. It will also help them to believe that there are compassionate caring people in this world that care about them and want to help them achieve.
