My dance classes are my favorite classes to teach because my students are motivated and they really seek to push themselves to the limit. They are a talented bunch of creative young people who inspire me every day.
They have an incredible ability to soak up choreography like a sponge and their group dynamic is very caring and compassionate.
My students are eager learners who are diverse culturally and socioeconomically.
Our school is a college preparatory high school in Southern California with a rigorous curriculum that is highly demanding. Students are expected to rise to the occasion academically despite social and financial obstacles that they may face. Our school is designated as a low socioeconomic status, and we are deemed a Title I school.
My Project
Dance in my classroom is project-based creative learning. My students are constantly working on dance projects that require their music to be heard simultaneously in and around the dance room space. Nearly all projects in my class have students working in small groups and they need to be able to hear their music in the large dance room but also for their small group to rehearse. This is also similar for our after school rehearsal setting.
Having new small speakers in the classroom will make a vast difference in the way that students can rehearse both during class and after school.
Students will have audible music which will in turn have them better rehearsed for their upcoming performances and assessments. We will also be able to transport and store our music easily because these speakers are small. My students and I truly appreciate any support you can provide to our classroom. Thank you!
