Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school strives to find the leader in all students. Every child has capabilities, talents, and strengths; sometimes, all it takes is exposure or motivation. The students in my school strive for excellence. They all inherently care about one another and continually make an effort to improve in all aspects.

My group consists of 30 amazing students.

These students are just beginning their involvement in dance with many years ahead of them. They are excited and eager to learn how to dance folk music. I am a strong believer that "If you involve students in many different activities and experiences, eventually they will find something that they love and excel in."

I feel it is my responsibility as their dance teacher to help my students see their capacity as dancers and creating an environment in which they can express themselves through dance and be creativity.

Although my students are faced with many challenges at home, they have the capacity to become great dancers. They come to school eager, happy, and excited to learn to dance.

My Project

Dancing allows my students to take their minds off of the challenges they face at home and in the community. It allows them to express themselves and feel free. During dance class, students enter a no-judgement zone where they are allowed to make mistakes freely and express themselves. Students learn cultural dances that help them learn about their roots and helps them validate their own culture and identity.

My students are fully engaged while in dance class and are eager to learn new songs from their culture.

The speakers that I have selected will help my students by giving them the sound they need to be able to practice their dance moves. The speakers are portable and wireless, which will allow the students to be able to practice any place available on campus. These will be extremely beneficial for the dance students, because movement is always better with music.
