My Students

Our school is located in an ethnically diverse urban city. We are a Title 1 school where all students receive free breakfast and 80% + receive free or reduced lunch.

My special education students are diverse ethnically, in their ability levels, and in the type of support they receive from the community.

They are peer models in some areas and learners in others. My students learn through playing, singing, and in moving their bodies. They qualify for services in a variety of areas that include self-help, pre-academic, social, communication, and motor.

My Project

This dance residency will focus on a variety of skills! Students will increase their understanding of spatial relationships, world dance & music, and social communication skills. They will experience moving their body to a variety of songs and beats. Students will also learn dance movements as they relate to a storybook.

Students will learn that their creativity can be sparked by movement & dance!

They will learn how music carries emotions and ways to express their emotions through movement. Students will share their ideas & will learn dance concepts. They will also learn ways to manage their emotions through movement & dance. This will culminate in a final dance number that they will help choreograph to share with their family during our end of the year celebration.
