Dance and Look Great Doing It!

My students need dance attire such as tutus, leotards, tights and colorful tops to look their best on stage for our annual fine art recitals and other performances during the school year.

FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Caldwell's classroom raised $510

My Students

Our dance room is filled with inspirational quotes and pictures of dancers from all dance styles. Our goal this year is to use the dance technique and performance skills we have learned to create high energy and uplifting performances. My students enjoy sharing their dance skills and learning other dance styles that are new to them. My students range from grades kindergarten to eighth grade.

Students love to share their talents with family and friends at our annual Winter Fine Arts Recital and Spring Production.

Our school is located in a urban community where 92% of our students come from a low-income family. In my classroom, students express themselves through movement while preparing for performances. These performances bring our community together and highlight our students hard work in the performing arts. This is essential during at time where our city is filled with violence. Our students need the fine arts. Dance gives them that chance to be creative and express how they feel.

My Project

My students will use the leotards, tutu skirts, tights and sequin tops to create costumes for various school performances. They will learn that you can have creative and bright costumes with the use of a leotard and other accessories. They will also learn how to present a performance in a professional manner on stage. The tutu skirts will give our students the opportunity to transform into a ballerina and demonstrate their beginner ballet technique they have learned.

I believe that the costume attire will increase students confidence on stage and will motivate them to give their best performance.

It is my goal that students learn the importance of coordinating colors and costume material together so that its appropriate for the dance style being performed. This donation will teach them the importance of preparation for a performance through the use of clothing and overall performance skills.
