My students need manipulatives and supplies such as sound phones and toothbrush holders to assist them in improving their independence in completing activities of daily living.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Citera's classroom raised $363

My Students
My middle school teenagers struggle every single day to master skills that most people take for granted. They are working hard to learn to brush their teeth, zip up their coats, button their pants, pour themselves a drink, etc.. They need the proper manipulatives to practice these skills.
My students are teenagers who attend a specialized public school specifically for students with special needs.
They are living with Autism, and other physical/cognitive delays that hinder their ability to do everyday things without the assistance of another adult. By donating to this project you will be providing this wonderful group of children with the manipulatives they need to complete activities of daily living independently. My students are best engaged in visual and hands-on activities, especially those in which they find meaningful.
My Project
For this ongoing project I'm requesting manipulatives (dressing vests, visual timers, adapted pitchers for pouring, visual steps for brushing teeth/washing hands) that will assist teenagers with dressing, self care, chores. My students have fine/gross motor delays and need these supplies to zip, button, lace, snap, velcro their own clothing. My students need the structure of visuals, timers, and manipulative to master these important skills.
Please give these teens an opportunity to become independent in activities they sturggle with daily.
If my students are provided with the requested materials, they will not only have increased independence in their everyday lives, they will also have an improved self-esteem.
