Daily Incentives (Rewards) for Bilingual Special Education Middle Schoolers
Help me give my students incentives (snacks and games) that students have requested. These rewards motivate students to push themselves to do their best work, even when facing big challenges as bilingual special education students in low-income neighborhoods.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I love that my students are striving to do their best work, even when facing big challenges as bilingual special education students in low-income neighborhoods.
These snacks and games are a small, cost-effective, sustainable way to recognize and reward students in a way that feels meaningful to them.
The students have requested these snacks and games as the rewards that most motivate them and help them feel successful.
Even though these rewards are small, they help me show students that I recognize and reward their big efforts and daily victories in learning. I reward students with these snacks and community-building games after they have demonstrated that they have pushed themselves to do hard work. They are a small material reminder that I am their cheerleader in school and life.
P.S. Although I am a first-year K-12 teacher, I have worked to support public schools for many years. I worked with parents and students at another school when DonorsChoose was in its founding years, and our community organization was one of the first groups to pilot the donation process!
