I am the luckiest teacher in the world, because I teach a classroom full of the most amazing 1st graders anywhere! They are smart, sweet kids who are extremely excited about using every minute of every day to become better readers and writers.
The problem I am facing is that we are in a very low socioeconomic area, and the parents are just not able to contribute financially to our classroom by purchasing supplemental materials. My students typically use their white boards daily to respond to questions from me during whole-group lessons and to work on their sight words during independent work times. However, we have gone through all of the dry erase markers we have, and I simply cannot afford to keep purchasing them myself. Our mini-erasers are now 9 years old, so, needless to say, they are in pretty bad shape. And, our white board cleaner was used up weeks ago, so our boards are smudged and dirty.
The good news is that there is a very simple solution to all of these problems! If you help support this project, we will be receiving an ample supply of dry erase markers that will last the rest of the year. We will also be receiving brand new mini-erasers that will last for years to come. We will also be receiving white board cleaner, so we can get those boards squeaky clean again! All of these materials will once again allow my students to use their white boards daily in many different ways!
Something as simple as a few markers and erasers may not seem like a big deal to you, but they are HUGE to my students. Any activity goes from mundane to magnificent when they get to use the white boards! But, it is up to you! We are depending on your help and generosity to provide these materials and opportunities for our class!
