Daily Comprehension Journals

My students need daily comprehension journals to tackle the high expectations of the Common Core.

FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Bradshaw's classroom raised $179

This project is fully funded

My Students

In our classroom we love learning about the world around us through reading, writing, language arts, science and social studies. We like the challenge that Common Core gives us, but sometimes our schools don't have the funds to catch up with new supplies to go with the new curriculum.

My students want to read ENGAGING fiction stories, nonfiction passages, and grade-level appropriate poetry.

These books will give them a daily dose of reading, while practicing important comprehension skills, and it's all aligned with the Common Core State Standards! With two levels of books I can make sure any child, no matter what their level is, is taken care of in my classroom! The students at this Atlanta school strive to be internationally-minded individuals. They think about the world around them and often take action to make the world a better place to live. They are inquirers who continually ask questions, which allows them to dig deeper in whatever they may be studying.

My Project

During reading there is a flutter of activity. Students are working in small groups with me on individual skills, getting on the computer or smart board for technology, working on phonics, language arts or writing that usually are based on science and social studies skills in order to fit it all in! In order to maximize learning time, I want the children to have the most beneficial independent work available. That's where these journals come in handy! Every minute in the school day counts, and I believe these journals, which are aligned with the Common Core State Standards, will offer students a reinforcing learning experience to help get their mind focused on reading comprehension.

Help me maximize learning for my 2nd graders by providing each student with their own leveled Daily Comprehension Common Core Practice Journal.

These will allow them to read engaging stories, passages, and poems as they practice important comprehension skills.
