Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We have several DACA students! LAICHS is a Title One school that helps underserved students of Highland Park, El Sereno, Lincoln Heights, and Cypress Park. LAICHS is a college preparatory school where all students graduate high school and they either attend a two-year or four-year college. The vast majority of the students come from poor local Hispanic families. Students are extremely motivated to improve their academic skills and need organizations like DonorsChoose in order to become even more successful.
My Project
Students will be able to complete higher level critical thinking problems. Currently, we are unable to do several different types of problems because we do not have a class set of calculators. I will also be sharing this class set of calculators with my colleague.
We have several DACA students as well as students who come from under served communities.
These students need our support and they need to be shown that we have their backs.
Students will be using these calculators during group work where we will be measuring rates of infectious diseases and finding slopes of various types of functions.
