This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students have Autism. Our school is in an inner-city, low income neighborhood in North Miami, Florida. Our school has 99% of the students on free or reduced lunch. I have a classroom of 4th and 5th graders.
Teaching students with autism is challenging, but very rewarding.
They require modifications, accommodations and a lot of teacher assistance to reach their academic goals. What I love most about my students is that they love to come to school to learn. They are each uniquely different and special in many ways.
My Project
The Cricut maker and accessories will be utilized in many ways. It will be used to create and make t-shirts for my students to wear on field trips and special occasions. I will cut flashcards, pictures, and labels to help the students in the classroom. I will also use it to create hands on crafting projects for my students.
The possibilities are endless with a Cricut machine for our classroom.
The Cricut comes with a computer program that has the ability to draw and cut on many textiles. I look forward to creating many projects with my students and colleagues.
