Cutting Out Negativity With Positive Words!

My students need a Cricut Air 2 Machine to cut vinyl in order to create positive, motivational sayings on our restroom walls and doors. Students will also use the letter cartridges for posters and science projects.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My classroom combines a diverse community of multicultural and socioeconomic learners in a high performing Title I school. A large portion of my students come from homes where English is a second language. Languages spoken include Spanish, Hindi, Arabic, Vietnamese, and Chinese.

I teach Math and Science to two groups of students as well as Physical Education.

My goal is to build a strong foundation for my students to ensure they are successful in 6th grade and beyond. Math and Science are key components in achieving that goal.

My Project

My middle school is working diligently to become a more positive environment for our students. We have seen examples of other schools creating words and quotes in their bathrooms and on classroom walls. I would like a Cricut Air 2 Machine to facilitate the creation of the vinyl letters needed to carry out this project. The bright colors of the vinyl, along with the lettering cartridges, would allow for students to use their creativity in creating the words and quotes.

Having students involved and engaged in creating and installing the letters will foster ownership and pride in our school.

The Cricut Air 2 Machine, along with the lettering cartridges, will also be amazing for student to use for science and social studies projects. As a Title I school, this would facilitate all students having the ability to have nicely lettered titles and captions for their posters.
