For two years, I have had the pleasure of teaching a fifth grade class of students with a variety of special needs in the heart of Brooklyn. I am among a group of children who are creative, inquisitive and compassionate when it comes to school.
I want my students to be able to master technology that will help them compete in our technology dependent world!
My students can use technology, but I want them to know how to make it, manipulate it, and use it to solve real world problems. I want my students to be the innovators of the future!
My Project
Students in my classroom are often completing hands-on projects that support STEM learning. Project Based Learning is necessary for authentic experiences.
A Cricut Air and accessories will give students an opportunity to learn the basics of STEM education through programming, design, and technology.
Students will use technology in the classroom to design and engineer several different projects for their specific STEM challenges on the Cricut design space. Students will learn the foundation of designing, marketing, and production. They will then transfer their project to the machine using the mats, vinyl, or card stock. The possibilities with a Cricut are endless. Students will have the ability to be creative with their projects and manipulate it as needed for an authentic, STEM experience!
