I love to see children read. As adults, we sometimes fall into a book and just cannot put it down. Children are the same way. In my classroom, I like to provide my students with a comfortable area to read, rather than the hard floor or the desks they have been sitting in all day.
I have the most wonderful class of first and second grade students.
They amaze me every day with their intelligence, charm, warmth, and most of all, their pure love of learning. I teach at a public school, but we use a Montessori Curriculum. The children really take charge of their own learning and become quite independent within a prepared environment. All activities are hand-on and we use very limited textbooks or worksheets. Most lessons are hand created by the teachers and the students become so incredibly engaged because they are constantly challenged while at the same time, working on their own level.
My Project
This week we went to the library for the first time. The class was so excited about their new books and couldn't wait to sit down and read. They all came back with different types of books, from bats to football. I watched them as they sat on the hard, cold floor, not even noticing their discomfort as they hunched over and intently read their new books.
I want to give my children a cozy reading area, where they can lose themselves in literature.
A place they can go when they need a break or just a place to relax and unwind. Your donation would help me create such a special place in the room. Thank you so much for reading.
