Curtains to Black Out Distractions!

My students need a comfortable classroom where they can feel like they are at home. Curtains will help block out the sun and make my students be more focused on the work they are engaged in.

My Students

My first graders are a great group of students! My classroom is made up of thirty eager first graders. I also have a wide range of reading and math abilities in my classroom. My reading levels range from pre-kindergarten to fourth grade. It's important that I read with these children every day to get them on grade level by the end of the year. Many of my students are very low readers, speak English as a second language and get free or reduced price lunch. All my students will do anything for anybody, especially the ESL students. We are always bringing the best out of everyone. Despite my students' backgrounds, they all have one thing in common and that is their love of learning and helping others.

My Project

My classroom has a ton of windows and is in a high traffic area and right near the recess year. Both of those things create quite a few problems throughout our day. As students walk past the room they can be very distracting to my class as we try to focus on learning. In addition, my afternoon becomes very bright in the afternoon. The brightness can hurt some students' eyes and disrupt their learning. When the students go outside for recess, all the noises can be heard inside our classroom. My ESL students and students with IEP's need to stay focused and get as much learning as they can throughout the school day. These curtains will help my classroom stay focused, block the sun out, and make my students feel more at home. Please consider funding our project. Thank you for your time.
