My Students
Our school is awesome.I have been there for about five years. The principal and the staff are great to work with. We all help each other in order to benefit students so that they will increase their knowledge in many subject areas. I had the opportunity to show my students a sample of the weekly magazine, TIME for Kids. The students showed so much enthusiasm toward the topics in the magazine. This magazine covers many subject areas that will interest my students and at the same time educate them. The school the students attend is wonderful overall, it just lacks good materials. As an educator, I try to find what can be the best for my students. This year, I have 30 second graders. I teach English as a second language students, language arts, math, and science. My students are all wonderful and eager to read magazines with current events.
My Project
I have requested a class set of TIME for Kids magazine so my students can learn about the importance of current events around the world. These resources have proved to me to be very useful in teaching current events.
Second graders are eager to learn about events that are taking place around them.
If they have the opportunity to read and learn about these events, it will increase their knowledge. TIME for Kids also has great activities within their weekly magazines. In the classroom, we will work on these activities in small groups for better understanding. Also, we can have lots of class discussions that will promote the ability for students to share with others what they have learned. I will pair English language learner students with other students that speak the same language, so that they can also participate in the activities. I would love to have the opportunity to be able to share this great magazine with my students this year.
