My Project

My students are a very diverse group, with many coming from low-income homes. My fifth graders this year were in the first grade during Covid. Most students learn to read in first grade. Therefore many are not reading at the level necessary to succeed at grade level.

I'm asking for a Scholastic News and Science Spin subscription for each student so that they will improve their reading skills.

We will use these in class to read about current events, and then they will take them home to share with their families. Every issue focuses on essential reading components. Even reluctant readers love learning about current events!
